Bioplastics can be used as compostable food and packaging to reduce the carbon footprint of the products, and at the same time can be composted to humus and soil fertilizers after usage. This helps improving waste management as part of the Circular Economy. Also, bioplastics like PLA can be used in the 3D printing application. PLA has an advantage over other conventional materials in terms of sustainability and performance as well. Also, PLA is composable within 180 days in organic compost facility with food waste and plant residue.
